( it is late in the afternoon when umbra appears to noctis wherever he might be. he is wearing a familiar strap of cloth, carrying their new notebook and looking a bit downcast from his usual excitable behavior whenever he spies noctis about the city.
inside the notebook there is none of her usual sketches to greet him, instead simple words written in her usual steady hand— )
Ravus has, to my knowledge, seemingly left this world. I cannot find any trace of him nor can Umbra or Pryna. It is almost as if he was never here.
[ hey, boy! noctis kneels down to meet him, rubbing the back of his ears and giving him a treat from his pocket -- he's keeping treats now, since luna tends to eschew technology and keep to their habit. but he notices, however, that the dog's usually a little more downcast.
he's giving him another treat, just to cheer him up. taking the notebook from him, he flips it open and frowns at the text before penciling something in. ]
Heard it happens a lot. Maybe he'll come back soon. Are you okay?
[ he tucks the book back into the little saddle, giving umbra little scritches underneath his muzzle. He'll wait for the response. ]
[Ignis contacts Noctis almost immediately, managing to keep most of his concern out of his voice even if a subtle amount of strain still shows through.
He does not like this. It's not supposed to happen.]
[ oh, but it's a relief hearing from him. noctis was just about to call. He can sense it, the strain in his voice, no matter how much Ignis tries to keep it hidden. Who does he think he's kidding? ]

Do you think there's fish in the water?
( Serah did not anticipate Noct's fishing lessons coming in handy like this, but if she can find (or cobble together) a fishing rod, why not? )

Not if we can help it. The prospect of potential information is tempting.
